Dig Deep into the path of an artist. Observe style trends and create your own. Curate content for media platforms to promote your artist of choice. Work in cohorts. Learn to build a startup. Create wellness concepts for an arts organization. Draw a network. Create a deck and sizzle reel to attract partners.
Semester One
Unit 1: Artistic Pathways & Works
-What is Artistic Intent? How does art affect society and community? The environment? How does it challenge or change the industry? The laws? The market?
-Provide a deck of preexisting artistic companies and organizations that provide positive social impact, and respond to each others’ works
-Submit proposals for products, services, and program development
-Deliver a presentation explaining types of arts companies, organizations, products, and services
-Create a product for a preexisting local or on-campus business
-Prepare a slidedeck on multiple art forms and methods of profiting from art practices
Unit 2: Target Markets
-Analyze and respond to current artistic works, and communicate how those works influence and affect their product(s) and community products/projects
-Three audiences: Build, design, and present various art works for specified target audiences, while also assessing historical works to best examine audience, trends, and need.
-Create a plan for the intended impact of a service or product and the model for how that change will take place
Unit 3: Art Access & Content Creation
-Design branding and digital media materials to distribute art
-Work with and respond to professional artistic endeavors and projects to better understand trends & needs for successful business practice
-Continue to create, respond to, and promote their artistic works and work for local audience access
Semester Two
Unit 4: Artistic Research and Development
-Learn to map art in concepts, understandings, methodologies, material practice, affect and sensorial experience that arises in and through art and the artwork.
-Research current style trends and design works to honor and break away from those styles in trending platforms
-Respond in solving an environmental problem, then work to monetize the developed response.
Unit 5: The Global Artist
-Create additional revenue streams, analyze and use sales trends, learn & apply intellectual property laws
-Design health & wellness concepts for an arts organization
-Build an online store & manage the store
-Develop Accounting/staffing/budgeting, Income vs. expenses, identify opportunities for networking
Unit 6: Capstone Launch-Career Paths
-Learn to attract capital including partnerships, investors and donors by creating a slide deck and sizzle reel for their stakeholders
-Create an infographic displaying various career paths in the arts beyond arts creation,
-Shark Tank: Create launch teams with various art-based roles then pitch and launching your teams' artistic products/services to the campus community using a variety of marketing research and internal media platforms/websites. Develop a plan for the human, financial, space-related, and other resource needs that will be necessary to launch their venture (Perform/present for your peers utilizing and exploring multiple marketing strategies)
Analyze and prepare for the risks involved with launching the new venture
Work collaboratively on creating a performance/Product reel of video content
Create a website on a free website designer showcasing team’s skill set and artistry
Class will meet tentatively Monday afternoons for 45mins!
